The Freedom EVO® Protein Digest workstation enables fully automated protein digestion for subsequent MALDI-TOF analysis, including destaining of gel plugs, reduction, alkylation, in-gel trypsin digestion, peptide extraction and spotting onto MALDI targets. The system allows up to 192 samples to be processed a day, including MALDI spotting.
Show moreBoth automated and manual in-gel digest protocols need approximately one hour of preparation (green bar), but automation frees the user from additonal hands-on time (red bars) over a seven hour period.

Eliminating salt from peptide samples obtained from 1D- or 2D-gel protein digestion is essential for successful MS analysis.
Fully automated peptide desalting and MALDI target spotting using ZipTip® columns (Merck) on Tecan liquid handling platforms. Various sizes of MALDI targets from different manufacturers can be accommodated, allowing high throughput, error-free spotting.

The proteomics group at the Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, is using a Freedom EVO to generate samples for analysis by mass spectrometry, providing the reproducibility and throughput to enable a range of different projects to be run entirely in house.
Scientists at the Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich have taken advantage of the 3D scanning capabilities of the Infinite® M1000 microplate reader for the study of epigenetics.
Integration of the FortéBio Octet® 384 platform on the Freedom EVO® workstation offers automated, real-time, label-free assays to support bioprocessing and drug discovery workflows. This robust, off-the-shelf integration provides automated liquid handling for assay plate set-up and increases walkaway times.
The Proteomics Group at the Max Planck Institute, Göttingen, has collaborated with Tecan to develop an innovative automated solution for in-gel digestion in large-scale proteome analyses.
