Safety and Security / Secure Server Communication
In the information age you need to worry about things like encryption and firewalls. For data backup you should settle for nothing less than the best service in the business. The backup servers utilized on our Te-Cloud service are operated by one of the few companies to have earned ISO 27001 certification, which means we will continuously protect your data with the highest security standards available.
All communications between the Backup Server and your computer are transported thru a 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) channel. Although all your backup files travel through a public network (Internet), eavesdroppers have no knowledge of what has been exchanged. All of your files are first compressed and encrypted before they are sent to the backup server.
Our multiple layers of server-side security include a digital signature for every file and block of data, a restorability validation process and a certificate of destruction for destroyed data. Your data remains encrypted on our servers and would be unreadable if anyone managed to gain access to our servers.
All data will be compressed and encrypted with 256-bit encryption, before being uploaded and stored on Backup Server. On the other hand, decryption is only possible with the user's encrypting key. Encryption keys are held by Tecan only, and used only when trying to restore data. No other party will ever store your encryption keys.
